"Should be" but is not. I personally think giv should get out if healthcare because like everything else big gov touches it makes it unaffordable and inaccessible. Look at the VA, ACA, SS, MEDICAID, MEDICARE for a few examples. Admin makes huge salary and funds available for those in need. Always hinges on higher taxes for the working poor who don't qualify for squat but expected to fund it. I dint want universal healthcare because I don't want gov being my healthcare proxy based on their inept ability to manage. Im tired if politicians pockets getting fatter off of policies they implement yet cannot properly manage.
I cannot afford your socialism. Sorry Senator...I usually support you. But, when taxes keep me from saving for my own hard earned retirement, and your party already screwed up my healthcare, you don't get a second chance to screw me.
The ultimate "litmus Test" for any candidate for the House or Senate. The number of lives that will be saved by legislation.
Medicare for All is a non-partisan legislation that will save tens of thousands if not millions of lives. Any elected official that refuses life saving legislation should be shamed and removed from office, no matter what party they are from.
BEWARE DEMOCRATS REFUSING TO PASS LEGISLATION THAT SAVES LIVES: House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) declined to back a single-payer health care bill drafted by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) , saying she is instead focused on efforts to shield Obamacare from Republican attempts to rescind it. http://www.politico.com/story/2017/09/12/bernie-sanders-single-payer-no-...
BEWARE REPUBLICANS USING FAKE STUDY. : Republicans attack Democrats that Support Medicare for All with FAKE STUDY. The Urban Institute, generally a reputable source of policy analysis, has published what is definitively the worst-ever study of single payer healthcare, and it is unfortunately making national news. https://www.change.org/p/urban-institute-retract-worst-ever-single-payer...
TRUMPCARE FAIL: Why? We know Trumpcare would have killed tens of thousands of people, killed over 7 million jobs, have taken away insurance from 24 million people on top of the 22 million already uninsured due to lack of medicaid expansion, and put over 130 million in jeopardy of bankruptcy and financial ruin. Plus Trumpcare would have transferred $300 billion from the the people to the elite. Graham - Cassidy legislation is worse with more people not receiving care and more dying prematurely.
OBAMACARE FAIL: Why? As long as Medicaid is not expanded in 21 Republican States 17,000 premature and avoidable deaths will continue annually, Harvard Study shows. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/01/31/1270171/-Harvard-Study-States-M...
not a matter of being rich or poor.....gov't cannot and should not provide all the funding for peoples lives......they try that in socialist countries and just look at how that has been working out....remember Bernie's famous quote about Venezuela ?...."These days, the American dream is more apt to be realized in South America, in places such as Venezuela "......this is what this far left socialist IMBECILE is peddeling and dopes like Cory Booger are pushing it to gain votes and to curry favor(money) from the far left IDIOTS that promote and pay for this lie
Joe’s Position on Healthcare – 7/13/2017There are, in my humble opinion, four primary reasons we do not have the best healthcare system in the world:1. Those politicians who do whatever serves their own selfish interests and don't give a damn about anyone else.2. Big insurance companies which successfully lobby congress to do what is best for them and therefore best for the politicians.3. Big pharma who does the same as the insurance companies and are in bed with them as well as the aforementioned politicians.4. Lawyers who prey on patients, doctors and hospitals filing frivolous law suits for any and all reasons and tie up proceedings for years, costing – wasting - untold amounts of money.
We are required to have car insurance because if we have an accident without it, we infringe on the rights and welfare of others. There are certain basic mandatory levels and we can purchase additional insurance if we want. We need to make healthcare mandatory because without it, if we get sick or have an accident or whatever, we infringe on the rights and welfare of others. There needs to be a certain basic mandatory level under a single payer / national system which would include everything necessary for the health and well-being of American citizens.
There is no reason why Medicare – with some adjustments - couldn’t be the base system used to provide high quality comprehensive (physical, mental, vision, dental, etc.) basic national healthcare for everyone instead of just those over 65. Make Medicare a non-profit private company, highly regulate and control it and charge it with providing national, single payer healthcare -- and make that healthcare a right.“Basic” healthcare includes everything necessary for the health and well-being of American citizens. It does not include “extras” such as non-medically required plastic surgery, gold fillings, designer eyewear, special bone replacement materials, special care by professors, rooms with a view, cable, telephone, special meals, etc. These “extras” could possibly be offered by the individual providers (hospitals, clinics, etc. or as additional supplemental insurance offered by the private insurance industry.
In my opinion this system would not only ensure basic healthcare for everyone, it would keep costs down by getting big insurance, big pharma, lobbyists and lawyers out of the system and making it impossible for corrupt politicians to have any personal benefit. And, although unproven to the best of my knowledge, it could be beneficial for the overall health and well-being of the country and the economy by having a healthier, happier, more secure workforce and communities.
Without having a clue as to the numbers I guess I shouldn't even say this but ... I have to think that if full coverage car insurance can be had for $100 per month for full coverage, basic health insurance could be had for somewhere around $300 - yes, including a small part of that for providing coverage to those who honestly can’t work and pay for their own coverage.
Cory Booker I did not know you supported slavery but everybody should realize it now electronic or government law or in any other form slavery it's still slavery even Financial slavery....
All them REPUBLICANS in Congress are chug-a-luggin' Trump's cool-aid! Make America Great AGAIN...CHANGE THINGS IN 2018. VOTE!
It IS already a right. You have the right to purchase health care, just like I have to!
Where does it say "healthcare is a right"? It's something you either earn or are given as charity. YOU, senator, are a WRONG.
That's not going to work. Don't you people get it? Congress isn't going to do anything on Health Care. The majority party couldn't even get their turd of a health care bill through. What makes you think the Dems will pass anything as a minority party? Don't get me wrong, I think the health care system in this country should be fixed too (not necessarily with single payer though) but c'mon! Setting realistic goals isn't going to cost you anything in 2018. Our best bet is to just wear the Republicans down until Ryan and McConnell decide to say fuck it we'll work with Dems on fixing the high premium issue.
