As far as I'm concerned, it's debtor's prison and has no place on this country. I've seen people picked up for fifty dollar in paid fines that spent 3 weeks in jail at taxpayer expense. Where's the logic in that?
In a lot of countries fines are proportional to people's incomes. A CEO will pay a higher speeding ticket than a waiter. Why can't we do that here?
Reality dawns...you are overburdening the legal and law-enforcement systems by piling warrant upon fine, upon court cost....all upon a person already struggling to survive. Glory Be!! Common sense rules the day 👏
I'm wondering how many "rich people" in South Carolina have been sent to jail for not paying fines. Not many, is my guess. Don't worry, South Carolina, we'll get ya'll up to the 21st century yet, kicking and screaming the whole way, no doubt!
Ignorancy by those pseudo wealthy that believe the poor must pay a fine or go to jail, fail miserably in both intelligence and in compassion. God certainly will say, "You hypocrits!"
ACLU-How does this help those who already did time for the same thing even after asking for a Show/Cause Hearing? It is not fair or just that some people get relief while others have already suffered the consequences.
Yeah! I mean, how can you extort money from the citizenry if your protection racket puts people in jail instead of allowing them to continue going to their place of employment earning money for the government to pilfer?
Well then just get rid of all those laws then. I can't afford my traffic fines either but bc i broke the law i am accountable!
My grandfather was a judge in several small towns. He never reduced the fine. He did, however, let people pay as little as $1.00 a month to pay their fine.
If anyone claims to believe in God and reads and studies Scriptures, then it behooves such christian to review Luke 17: 7-10. No one should lose compassion.
