Martin McGuinness "devoted his life" to the murder and maiming of innocent people, Mr. Clinton. Martin McGuinness rests no doubt where all unrepentant terrorists rest. http://rarehistoricalphotos.com/seven-horses-of-the-queens-household-cav...
It takes a great deal of courage to put down the weapons and join the political process; to work for peace and to improve the lives of your people with words and constructive actions rather than just fighting your opponent with violence.
I lost a lot of respect for you today, President Clinton. McGuinness was a terrorist and mass-murderer who killed innocent people to advance his agenda. He and his IRA friends didn't care about the democratic will of the Northern Irish people, they only cared about killing people when they couldn't get their way. Your actions in the late 90s were noble, Mr. President, but you don't need to gush praise for a man like this while not mentioning any of his substantial flaws.
He was a murdering bastard who only came to the table after British Intelligence penetrated the IRA to the highest levels. He was about to be arrested when SF decided to talk. No-one in the UK feels particularly charitable towards McGuinness, might I respectfully suggest you reacquaint yourself with what he presided over when two off duty British soldiers were murdered on live TV in 1988?
Good riddance to the murderous cretin.
HMMM not sure the families of those that were killed and injured when he ordered the bombing of a HOSPITAl would be fully on board with ll this eulogizing of this terrorist.
My protestant mother called him murdering scum, but my catholic father would have called him a freedom fighter...Seems like they were both right.
Im Irish and reading most of these comments are disgusting. Innocent people have died on both sides (Republican and Unionist). He was freedom fighter! What about the British coming into ireland taking our lands while the Irish became second class citizens in their own country?? What about the Irish getting torchured by the British because they spoke Irish?? And on Bloody Sunday when innocent people died protesting for Civil Rights?
No but standing up to the British Establishment in your own country your classed as a terrorist 🐸☕️
He was a child murdering terrorist no better than Isis. The world is a better place without him
He was a terrorist scumbag who only went after peace after he knew that the IRA was on the brink of losing and that British Intelligence was about to get him.
He's a coward that using peace as a cover to avoid justice.
Of course he has be given credit for trying to bring peace, but in my opinion the IRA were pure outright scumbags, who weren't as clever as they thought themselves to be. The UK in 1970's couldn't have given a damn about the north, it was a headache of a problem that needed to be sorted. The UK didn't just aim colonisation for Ireland. It did the same everywhere, even in the US. The major flare up in the North, came in 1970's where a movement started after many centuries! I don't think the English ever had a downright hatred for Ireland, or sought to purposely denigrate the Irish, in the way IRA tried to claim. The English culture was different, and foundations were of an empire etc etc - I think the north was as much a class war, than a religious one - but the IRA were so barbaric themselves- yet they always claim to represent the downtrodden, what woman wears ripped jeans, and a duffle coat carrying the coffin of a "Statesman" ? - that's called a KNACKER - get the earplugs!! Glad I'm from Dublin - and although it's an 1hr drive - I would still feel intimidated to travel there - not the most sophisticated let's say! Obviously it was an horrendous loss of life for people who died at the hands of the IRA -
